Decoration Day.

Memorial Day in my youth was referred to as "Decoration Day". Early on that morning, Granddad Amos, Pop and I would load lawn care equipment into the trunk of the car and picnic baskets, prepared by Grandmother Stella and Mom, into the back seat. With little fanfare, we were off to visit several local cemeteries to provide a little TLC to the resting places of our military and civilian family and friends. Granddad Amos would clean the headstones while Pop and I would mow and trim the grass. As time marched on, it was just Pop & me and then I graduated from high school and moved away.

As I sit here today, enjoying so many fond memories and thinking what I wouldn't give for just one more "Decoration Day" with Granddad Amos and Pop.

Although it has now been six years, for me it's like it was yesterday.  I miss you Mom.
